29.5.23 Reaching the Faroes
29/05/23 19:56
Only in the early hours to sea got quieter but all in all it was again an almost sleepless night.
At 6:00 the alarm went on and after a shower and a small breakfast ( the sea was at this point in time
very calm ) the ferry reached the first islands of the Faroes. A reason to get on deck where one had to cling
to the railings not to be blown away.
Slowly but steadily the ferry reached Tørshavn where we disembarked at around 7:30 and took passion of our
Rental car after a little wait.
As it was Whitsunday all shops where closed, our booked apartment was only available at around 1 pm so
A quick decision was made to use the available time to visit one of the sites on our "agenda".
After a short drive from Tòrshavn we received the somewhat remote little village of Kirkjhubour where the old
Magnus cathedral ( ruin ) greeted us on the shore. The cathedral was once the main seat of the bishop for the
Faroes.
Some pictures of our first day on the island you can find here and you can track our tour click here
